I have a Quorn Garlic Kiev in the oven along with hash browns and sweetcorn, and I will be adding a couple of Yorkshire puddings just before they're ready. This year I plan to be sitting down in front of the TV in time for Dr Who instead of running at the last minute. I have no idea how I managed to be running about like a blue-arsed fly when I had all day to get things organised the last two years- but this year it will be different. I will be sorted.
I went out a walk earlier on. The sun was out and there did seem to be a bit of thaw going on. So much the better. I wore my new rainbow jumper, which was roasting. It's an excellent jumper, I'm glad I bought it. It matches my hat and I have rainbow gloves as well.

After yesterday's episode of Hot Fuzz IRL,sweetheartwhale and I figured we'd have a walk in Narnia, which ended with us negotiating Great Escape-like double rows of barbed wire through tree-lines for a shortcut home. I'm better at it than Lesley, who it seems didn't notice that they're double rows, and nearly crawled face first into the second set.
But we enjoyed it, and after this year's downside it's nice to rediscover at Xmas that I am actually still a secret action hero. Not in the serving one's country sense, but in the John McClane everyman sense; having had, you know, sword fights in bars, come back from the dead twice, been run down by a car then got up and started chasing it, and now having spent Xmas Eve evening as a freelance trouble- er, contractor, making sure that some (up to) 80k a year types could actually leave work for Xmas night...

Meanwhile, I think I'll have the green absinthe to accompany Dr Who - Lesley bought me some on account of being aware that the Master has an absinthe habit somewhere, and being apparently unaware that it was me who gave him it!

My younger sister (who is 21 today and acting not a day over 8) makes plush toys and other things out of felt as a hobby. I knew she had made a little penguin charm for our brother, but when emptying my stocking this morning I found a curious little package.
And I'll be darned (no pun intended), she'd made me a mini TARDIS.
I have the most awesome sister ever, seriously. :D
